When Duct Cleaning Is Worth It

Not every home needs duct cleaning on a regular schedule. The EPA and major HVAC industry organizations recommend cleaning when specific conditions are present, not on a fixed annual schedule. Duct cleaning is clearly warranted when:

Professional duct cleaning involves mechanical agitation and high-powered vacuum extraction — not just blowing air through the system. Our process:

Camera inspection first: Before cleaning, we use a duct inspection camera to document existing conditions and confirm cleaning is appropriate. This also helps us identify duct damage, disconnected sections, and ductwork routing issues that should be addressed.

HEPA-filtered vacuum truck connection: We connect high-powered HEPA-filtered vacuum equipment directly to the main trunk lines to capture debris rather than releasing it into the living space.

Register-by-register agitation: Each supply and return register is cleaned individually using rotating brushes and compressed air tools to dislodge debris from branch ducts and drive it to the main trunk for extraction.

Sanitizing treatment: For ductwork with mold or microbial contamination, we apply EPA-registered antimicrobial treatment to duct surfaces after mechanical cleaning.

Duct Sealing — Where Energy Goes to Waste
